Customer: Are you licensed by DHS?
Answer: Yes, we are licensed as a “Drop-in” center. This means kids can only attend 6 hours per day or 24 hours per week. (We are allowed to go over the hours limit a few times per year).
Customer: Do you take DHS payments?
Answer: No. We are private pay only.
Customer: What is your teacher to child ratio?
Answer: This depends on the age of children present. We follow the DHS mixed age ratio chart. 1:4 ratio 0-12 months, 1:6 ratio 13-23 months, 1:8 ratio 24 months and up. We usually exceed the minimum requirements for teachers. This allows us to provide the “drop-in” option for care. It also helps us provide more quality care.
Customer: What is a “Drop-in” center and how does it differ from traditional daycare?
Answer: A drop-in center charges hourly rates instead of weekly/monthly tuition. Parents only pay for time used. Traditional centers are only open during the typical work week while our open hours are extended into the evening and weekend. Traditional centers require parents to maintain a “spot” for their child. KidzStreet parents can drop in anytime without reservation for all children over two years.
Customer: Do you have a curriculum/program?
Answer: Due to the somewhat unpredictable flow of children in and out each day, KidzStreet will follow a semi-structured daily program created around play.
Customer: Do you have a food program?
Answer: Families may purchase drinks, snacks and cold food items from KidzStreet vending. The cost for these items ranges from $0.75 to $3.00. We will store the snack/meal until snack time which is once every two hours beginning at 8am and ending at 8pm.
Children are welcome to bring in food for their personal consumption. This food may come from home or restaurants. (We do not prohibit peanuts/peanut butter; however, if we have a child in attendance that has a peanut allergy, we will not serve the peanut items to your child).
Customer: Do you accept sick kids?
Answer: We do not accept sick kids. If a child has had fever, vomiting, diarrhea or other signs of illness they should not attend until symptoms have been gone for 24 hours.
Children who become ill while in attendance must be picked up as soon as possible. They will be separated from all other children until parents can arrive to pick them up.
Customer: Tell me about the employees?
Answer: All employees receive a pre-hire background check through the OSBI. This includes a check of the sex offender registry.
We have a Certified First Aid/CPR Instructor on-site. All employees are certified in FA/CPR at hire and receive refresher training every six months.
Most employees are college students majoring in child development or education. Some are mothers with young children of their own. Employees must be at least 18 years of age to be left in charge. High school students assist older teachers and are never left in charge.
Customer: I have a baby & an older child. Will they be in separate rooms?
Answer: We have one large indoor play area that includes slides and climbers. We also have video games and arcade activities for older children. A separate space is provided for infants and toddlers. Although, the younger and older children may be joined if group size is very small or we have few infants and toddlers in attendance.
Customer: How many children are you licensed for?
Answer: KidzStreet Edmond is licensed for __40__ children and KidzStreet Moore is licensed for __40___ children.
Customer: Will my children be safe in the facility?
Answer:
Design - The facility was designed for children. The open concept allows teachers to view all children at all times.
Alarm - The facility is equipped with an intrusion alarm and locking system that restricts access to public and allows 24 hour monitoring on all exits. All rear exits are equipped with loud alarms. Staff has access to a silent panic alarm that would send for police immediately.
Releasing children –Children will only be released to individuals listed as either parent/guardian or authorized pick-up on the registration form. Individuals may be asked to provide identification for proof of identity.
